The Jeff Roth Cycling Foundation in partnership with the Crater City Adventure Company-Middlesboro KY is sponsoring a Bicycle Safety Rodeo for school-age children (grades K through 6) at the TNT Primary School on Saturday, August 22 from 9 am until 2 pm.  The purpose of the rodeo is to provide bicycle safety education and awareness to children and their parents with an activity-based program that will emphasize bicycle handling skills like stopping and turning, the use of hand signals, and the importance of helmet wearing to protect against head injuries.  Bicycle helmets will be distributed through a partnership with the East Tennessee Epilepsy Foundation “free of charge” to participants who do not have one while supplies last.

Parents and children attending the “Rodeo” will learn how to properly fit a bicycle helmet to their child and perform and “ABC Quick Check” to insure that their child’s bicycle is safe to ride with Air in the tires, Brakes that work, and a Chain that is properly fitted to the wheel.

The Bicycle Safety Rodeo is dedicated to the memory of Christopher Shearer, a 9 year-old student at TNT Primary who was killed riding his bicycle in the Dogwood Heights neighborhood on May 3, 2015.

All educational activities and instruction for the TNT-Primary Bicycle Safety Rodeo have been approved and certified by The League of American Bicyclists.

Preregistration by e-mail to info@jeffrothcyclingfoundation.org, or phone call to 865-309-5723 is appreciated.
